Colorado.....what a FUN trip!

What a fantastic time we had in Colorado!  The plane ride out was challenging, with a crying puppy a few rows in front of us to Josh not feeling well with a bad cold.  But, thankfully, he quickly started feeling better.

The 2nd day we were there, we decided to go shopping.  We just happened to stop by Best Buy.  As I walked past the camera aisle (HUGE mistake on my part) I thought I was in heaven.  I have always loved my Nikon camera, but I had been thinking about upgrading to something a little more.  As I am looking at the Nikon's, a representative from Canon came over to me. As a woman in a sales profession, I am very skeptical of other sales people, unless I need something.  As I was talking to the lady from Canon, she showed me different models.  Needless to say, I fell in love.

By that time, John had come over.  As he listened to the Canon representative, he told me...."buy the camera, you've been talking about upgrading.....get it, you can always return it if you don't like it"...  As someone who hyperventilates at expensive purchases, especially something that is not a necessity, he kept saying buy it. I told him to go pay for it.  I had to go outside for fresh air....

What the hell have I done?  I have this huge professional grade camera......what was I thinking????

Once I arrived back to John's sisters house, I sent my friend Carolyn a message....her response...you will love it...

Well this camera is fabulous!  Josh wants to keep my old camera, maybe he will take up the hobby that I love so much.

Early Christmas at the Greer-Hadwiger Home!

This year we had Christmas early at our house.  Since we are spending the Christmas holidays in Colorado, John & I discussed shipping his gifts, but that was too expensive.  However, Santa will visit us in Colorado!

I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas!

Pics, pics & MORE pics!

My sweet friend Carolyn, at Carolyn Griffin Photography, recently posted the importance of taking pictures.  If you can't afford a professional, buy a cheap camera & take LOTS of pictures!  Your children change so much, (I know Josh has!) and you need to capture every moment of it.  Most of the time, I have my camera with me.  I know I drive my family insane, but its something I love to do.  To quote Josh "I bet you have thousands of pics of me".....

However, I do suggest professional photography, and Carolyn Griffin is your woman! If I have to modify my budget, I will save the money for my family to get professional shots twice per year.  God has definately given her a talent and she has a passion for what she does....and it shows in her work.

And pictures is something you will always have.  I only wish I had taken up this hobby years ago....

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas Sam & Alison!

Sam & Alison are my former step children.  However, we are still very close and I would do anything for them.  When I met them, Sam was 11 and Alison was 9.  They have both grown into beautiful, success individuals and I am so proud of them! Sam is a freshmen at the Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD, and Ali is a junior at Lowndes Co High School.

Below are a few of my favorite pics of them.

FHS/BHMS Christmas Concert

Last night was the annual FHS/BHMS Christmas Concert.  This was such a beautiful concert~I am proud to say we have some talented kids!  However, the choral directors Mrs. Debbie Hamlin & Mr. Brian Morris know how to put on a show!

Mrs. Hamlin & Mr. Morris, thank you so much for your hard work.  The passion and love you have for your job truly shows.

Meet Bob! Our little Elf on the Shelf

I know Josh is a little old for this, but I love the story behind it.  It is a Christmas tradition that all families should do!

Bob, on his first day at our home.  He is sitting quitely in the kitchen, checking things out!

Day 2: I found Bob hiding in the Christmas Tree!  Josh said "I'm not afraid, he's only plastic"....

Day 3: I wake up to find that Bob has been VERY bad!  He decided to get Josh back!

Vegas....more than just bright lights

There is so much to Las Vegas other than bright lights & slot machines.  Hoover Dam is one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen.  The last time I was at Hoover Dam, several years ago, the bridge was still under contruction.  Now you can walk across the bridge, and the views are breathtaking!

The Valley of Fire & the mouse tank was awesome. The details of the rock mountains are amazing. Absolutely beautiful~

I have to say, my last day in Las Vegas was the best day.  If you ever get a chance to visit Las Vegas, do yourself a favor & go sight seeing!

Pecans....and more pecans!

Don't get me wrong, I am very thankful for our pecan harvest this year.  However, when will the end be near?  We have already gathered around 200 lbs so far and there are plenty more out there.

Looks like more fun for Josh.  Atleast I bought 2 of the pecan rollers, which are wonderful, and you can pick up a 5 gallon bucket of them within 10 minutes!

Aleister & Emily Greer

I have the sweetest nephew & niece.  Aleister & Emily are the children of my brother Reggie and his wife Amanda. I only get to see them a few times per year, but they are the most precious children ever. Aunt Dana loves these babies!

I love this one!  I climbed up a ladder to get this shot.

People say Emily acts like me....
